Catching Up With the Changes: Digital Radiography

changes in x-ray reimbursement

If you have not converted to digital radiography yet, you are already feeling the pain. In 2016, Congress passed the 21st Century Cures Act which is a mandate for the reduction in reimbursement for medical practices that are using film or CR for their x-ray modalities. The 2017 reductions were heavy and if you have weathered the storm so far, the time to act and improve your reimbursement status is now. The 2017 cuts of 20% for film users and 7% for CR users will be followed with additional 20% and 7% cuts in 2018 as H.R. 2029 Section 502 creates a Medicare payment incentive (or penalty, in reality) to transition to digital radiography.

The message that Congress was sending in this announcement was clear: the time to transition to direct digital detector technology (DR) is now if you have not done so already.

Fortunately, direct digital detector technology pricing has come down. This is due to increased demand and the addition of players to the market. Trading out to a digital detector is much easier than it has ever been. You do not have to upgrade your entire system in order to comply. In fact, all you need is a new detector. Connect with us today to see how we may be able to help you with a digital detector today.
